Béton is a photograph of board-formed concrete, its tie holes on a strict grid, crossed by one shaft of daylight. Every word stands in the light: your names in thin spaced capitals of real gold foil, the date and the place small beneath them, each line set on a row of the tie holes and the light running between two columns of them. With a photograph, your picture hangs on the concrete like a gallery print, lit by the shaft, your names below it. Concrete, warm concrete, charcoal, sand or moss.
