Cabana is a striped beach cabana of our own, painted in gouache: a peaked roof in broad stripes with a pennant flying from its pole, a scalloped valance, curtains tied back with rope on a plain canvas back wall, a potted palm either side. Your names are set on the canvas in spaced capitals, the way a beach club letters its name, and the date flies on the pennant; add a photograph and it hangs on the canvas between the curtains. A row of three small cabanas heads the menu, the table number is a cabana with the number on its canvas, and every sign wears its striped roof. Powder blue as painted, butter, coral, or navy with cream.
