Clubhouse is a tennis club’s card. It is cut with a wavy edge, and inside it runs a border of fine stripes, then a solid band of the club’s colour, then the cream panel your words sit on. At its head is the club’s crest: two wooden racquets crossed in a laurel, a ball in the V of their heads, your initials either side and the year you found the club on a banner. Your names are set in a bold serif, the details in small capitals, and at the foot it signs off “Love all”. The reply card is a score sheet, the place card a courtside ticket, and the table number a court seen from above. With a photograph, it sits under an arched top with the crest stamped over its crown. Court green, navy and powder, clay and bottle green, butter, or pink and green.
