Cutout borrows the late paper cut-outs: a loose border of shapes cut by hand from flat bright colour, algae fronds, broad leaves, uneven stars, a snail’s spiral and lagoon blobs, gathered round your names, some overlapping, one or two running off the edge of the card. Each has the slightly faceted edge scissors leave, and every card cuts its own. Your names are set in a soft semibold serif with an italic “&”, the details small, like a gallery label. The small cards carry one or two shapes and their word. With a photograph, it is cut into a blob with the shapes round it. Cobalt, tomato, butter, pink, or bright colours on ink.
