Op fills the card with bands of one ink and the paper that bend round a clearing, the way water bends round a stone: they part above it and close below it, crowding where they pass its crown, with a slow ripple running through them. Your names stand in the clearing in light capitals, widely spaced, and the rest of the wording sits on a band of plain paper across the foot, like a gallery label. The small cards carry a strip of the stripes with their word in its clearing; the table number is stripes all over with the number in the middle. With a photograph, it is cut round and set in the clearing, the stripes bending round it. Black, red, blue or orange on warm white, or cream on black.
