Rotary is a rotary telephone of our own, painted flat and bright, receiver on its cradle and its coiled cord looped into a heart. It stands at the foot of the card with your wedding date dialled: the day large in the middle of the dial, the month over it and the year under it. Your first names stand big and bold above it with “Ring ring!” written beside them by hand. The reply card is a telephone message pad that says “Leave a message after the tone”, every place card is a sticky note with the guest’s name written on it, the table numbers are big rotary dials and a twist of coiled cord sits between the courses of the menu. With a photograph, the picture sits in a heart of coiled cord. A bubblegum pink telephone on deep red, or the same telephone in cherry red on pink, mint on cream or black on butter yellow.
