Velours is a photograph of a great silk velvet bow at the head of the card, its two long tails falling down and away to either side so they frame your names between them. The names stand in Bodoni capitals, widely spaced, with a gold Didone ampersand and fine gold rules round the day; every line takes gold foil. The reply card has a small velvet bow and asks for the favour of a reply, every guest’s name sits under a little bow, the table numbers stand large between the tails and the menu’s courses run down between them. With a photograph, the picture hangs between the tails in a slim gold frame. Oxblood velvet on black, black velvet on ivory, emerald, or midnight blue.
